We don't recommend getting the oldest generation, the YJ with square headlights, because newer models have better technologies and features. The best model in this generation is the 2005- 2006 Unlimited Rubicon with the 6-speed manual transmission, although resale value isn't particularly strong. From 2007 to 2019, Jeep produced mainstream Wranglers that are referred to as the JK generation. These are a good choice if the price is right. The JL models are the last generation and represent an enormous leap for the Wrangler. Doors are lighter and tops are simpler to remove. We consider the current JL generation to be the best available option.
